"In The Pink" is a play on words. The main colour in each painting is rose pink but the phrase "In The Pink" also means : in a  state of good health.

Due to the hard work of COAST with the no take zone in Lamlash Bay, this part of the Firth of Clyde is returning to excellent health and this success is celebrated by my "In The Pink" series of paintings.

In respect of Ailsa Craig, Rats were eradicated on the island in 1991. Ailsa Craig used to have the largest Puffin breeding grounds in the world before the Victorians brought rats to the island. Puffin numbers quickly reduced to zero because of the rats. Since 1991, breeding Puffins have slowly returned and now there are about 400 breeding pairs on the Island. Another ecological success in the Firth of Clyde that my "In The Pink" series references and celebrates.
