After a time of living in the south, she has now returned to live in Stirling, close to her roots.
She paints predominantly in oils, using knives, brushes and rags to achieve spontaneity and freshness. She finds inspiration in the natural world and the soft, muted tones of the Scottish landscape suit her realist palette.
Arran provides a rich source of material and while the rotation of the seasons and changing light provide infinite variations on familiar scenes, there is also the delight of discovering a new challenge from an unexpected viewpoint. She enjoys walking both the well-trodden paths and the unfamiliar on her frequent trips to the island. The wild flowers of Arran have been a fascination since childhood and red campion, bluebells and cow parsley in the hedgerows are often the features that bring her paintings to life.
Nancy's work is highly sought after and she exhibits in several galleries throughout the UK. In 2010 won the prestigious David Cargill award at the RGI.
