After training as a retail display artist, Nikki returned to Arran to work with potter Alastair Dunn before getting married and bringing up three daughters. Having been busy raising her children for many years it was only five years ago when they all flew the nest that Nikki returned to education and completed an Art Higher course gaining an 'A' pass, thus fuelling her desire to start drawing and painting which had always been a passion.
Nikki's main influences over the years are Georgia O'Keefe, Joan Eardley and Jessie King, all of which she read and studied while doing the Art Higher.
Arran's magical scenery, wildlife and the ever changing weather are always going to be subjects which inspire Nikki but travelling abroad has also brought about many memories which she has scribbled down into little sketch pads hopefully to be developed!
Nikki lives on the west coast of Arran with her husband who is a landscape photographer. Together, they also provide a photography service for local weddings. Nikki sings in a Rhythm & Blues band in local venues and also loves touring on her red Ducati motorcycle.
